With a coastline stretching 6,435 km, Chile is a maritime nation (the total coastline of the mainland and adjacent islands is 83,850 km).
It is in these calm, cold waters of southern Chile that, over the past 50 years, salmon has become the country’s leading export product alongside trout and mussels (aquaculture exports total approximately $9 billion, accounting for 10% of the total), second only to copper. Chile exports salmon to more than 70 countries, notably the United States, Japan, and Brazil.
For three days from April 24 to 26, Aquasur was the epicenter of the aquaculture industry in its national capital, Puerto Montt. Austral Food Safety, a national leader in food safety, is grateful for the opportunity to share its expertise and solutions alongside the Danish company System Cleaners and the French company Oxy’Pharm, focusing primarily on the industry’s goals of sustainable development and operational excellence.
Austral Food Safety also showcased solutions from Kersia, Charm Sciences, and Sterilex, as well as conveyor belt systems from the French company MLT Group.
