Formaldehyde free cleaning formulations

Is Austral Chemicals a responsible company?

Last year we started a program in our laboratory to eliminate formaldehyde from our hygiene formulations. As it is already banned in Europe in this type of biocide applications, we could not wait any longer.

Formaldehyde is a preservative commonly used in cleaning products. It is a corrosive, colorless liquid with a strong, highly irritating and characteristic odor.  It causes burns. Danger of very serious irreversible effects through inhalation, skin contact and ingestion. Possible carcinogenic effects.

Repeated contact with the product may cause irritation and in some cases even ulcers. Prolonged contact may cause dermatitis and skin sensitivity.

Frequent or prolonged exposure to this product may cause hypersensitivity which may lead to dermatitis and may cause an allergic reaction in some people. Vision impairment and liver inflammation may occur.

Formalin, or formaldehyde, is carcinogenic.

Today, we can say that all our formulations are formaldehyde-free. We are now using a biodegradable and environmentally friendly preservative. In this way, we do not expose our employees to this harmful chemical. We are also very proud to offer safer solutions to our customers and to actively participate in a more sustainable future.

Undoubtedly, an important milestone for Austral Chemicals, in the run-up to the ISO 14001 Certification.
